Impactful web store for a major fashion brand

Makia makes simple and functional clothing that focuses on materials respecting the harsh Northern climate. It is a fashion brand born in the worker districts of Helsinki creating sustainable garments that withstand the test of time. When Makia chose Contrast to be their digital partner, we kicked off our wonderful collaboration with a web store renewal.

Following an update in strategy, business goals and brand definition, Makia’s new brand approach needed to be carefully expanded into the digital realm. Alongside the brand alignment, the existing site needed an overall restructuring of the information hierarchy, to better support the user's journey, encourage product exploration and generally drive conversion.

Visually we focused on bringing out the honesty and authenticity of the brand, its Nordic roots and timeless approach – supporting visuals are simple, understated and give center stage to the beautiful product images. Makia pays close attention to detail with their garments, which we brought to the site with small transitions that make the interaction pleasant. In addition to a well-designed custom theme, Makia’s online store integrates into several different interfaces and shipping providers. We also customized the admin panel to be modular.
